Call for Papers
In continuation of the previous conferences held in Mexico (2013), Bogota (2016), and Providence-USA (2019), the 4th International Conference on the History of the Order of Preachers in America seeks to deepen the study of Dominican history. This academic event provides a platform for researchers dedicated to exploring the Order of Preachers in the Americas, fostering exchange, reflection, and debate. Additionally, it aims to showcase the progress made in historical studies across various regions of the continent and from diverse theoretical perspectives.
Given that the archives of the Order of Preachers in America serve as essential repositories for preserving Dominican historical memory, this conference will also host the 1st International Meeting of Archivists. The purpose of this gathering is to introduce the existing Order of Preachers archives across the American continent, present their current state of conservation and cataloging, and to facilitate the exchange of organizational experiences. The ultimate goal is to promote awareness of these valuable archival collections and encourage their accessibility to researchers.

Submission of abstracts and papers:
Abstract submissions, consisting of 250 (minimum) to 400 words (maximum), are due by September 15, 2024.
Notifications will be sent by Friday, October 1, 2024.
Submission of papers: until March 15, 2025.
Send papers in Word format, maximum length of 40,000 characters, in Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Footnote citations, in the same font and size 10, numbered.
Bibliographic citations APA standards.
Presentation time:
All conference presentations will be limited to twenty (20) minutes, which typically amounts to 8 to 9 pages of text.
Fees and form of payment
Form of payment and cost both for speakers and attendees will be published March 2025.
